Running the Total Upkeep preflight test on my newly-installed WordPress site, the WordPress directory is reported as writable, but the home directory is not. Here are the tables for the general and backup directory & permissions tests (replacing the WordPress directory name with my_site):
    `
    User home directory: /var/www (755)
    User home directory writable? No
    WordPress directory: /srv/www/my_site/
    WordPress directory writable? Yes
    Document root: /srv/www/my_site
    Current user: www-data
    PHP in safe mode? No
    Filesystem Method direct
Execution functions available exec, shell_exec, proc_open, popen, passthru, system
    WordPress version: 6.8.2
    Server time zone: -06:00 / -06
Server date: Tue Aug 26 16:33:01 MDT 2025
    `
    `
    Possible backup directory parents: /var/www
    /srv/www/my_site/wp-content
    Backup directory: /var/www/boldgrid_backup
    Backup directory without ABSPATH: /var/www/boldgrid_backup
    Backup directory exists? Yes
Backup directory has read permission? Yes
Directory listing of backup directory can be fetched? Yes
Backup directory has write permission? Yes
Backup directory has modify permission? Yes
Backup directory has delete permission? Yes
    `
Running ls -hal /var/www gave the result:
    `
    total 16K
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4.0K Aug 26 16:02 .
    drwxr-xr-x 15 root root 4.0K Feb 28 21:03 ..
    drwxr-xr-x 3 www-data www-data 4.0K Aug 26 16:33 boldgrid_backup
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4.0K Aug 19 14:40 html
    `
What other steps can I take to troubleshoot the issue? Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting BoldGrid support. The reason for testing if the home directory is writable is because the default backup location is there.  But there’s an option to have the backup directory within the doc_root which should resolve the issue. Please let us know if this works!

    Thanks,

    Nicole P.
