Configuring Remote Storage Locations with BoldGrid Backup

BoldGrid Backup offers tons of possibilities for storing your backups. You have the option of storing them on the web server, your local computer, a remote FTP server, or even Google Drive or Amazon S3 if you are a Premium Connect Key user! The following guide will explain how to configure your Backup Plugin to store your WordPress backups remotely.

Configure Your backup on FTP / SFTP Storage

  • In the Dashboard, Navigate to BoldGrid Backup → Settings
  • Under the Backup Storage Section, Select Configure FTP
  • Provide your connection credentials
  • Click Save Changes

Configure your backup on Amazon S3 Storage

  • In the Dashboard, Navigate to BoldGrid Backup → Settings
  • Under the Backup Storage Section, Select Configure S3
  • Retrieve your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key from Amazon Web Services
  • Provide the resource name for the bucket you are using
  • Set the retention preference according to the number of backups you wish to keep
  • Provide a Nickname for this connection (Optional)
  • Click Save Changes

Configure your backup on Google Drive Storage

  • In the Dashboard, Navigate to BoldGrid Backup → Settings
  • Under the Backup Storage Section, Select Authorize Google Drive
  • A window will appear asking you to choose your Google Account and Authorize BoldGrid Backup to create and manage backups.
  • Authorize BoldGrid Backup to access your drive.
  • Click Save Changes.

Congratulations! You now know how to configure your Backup Archives to store remotely, which will save you a ton of space on your Web Server, as well as provide an additional layer of security. Once the next backup runs, it will be automatically transferred to the remote storage of your choice.
