    Hello,

I would like to build a Business Directory with a Map Locator using Boldgrid. I have installed a few directory style plugins (free versions to see if adaptable) but they don’t seem to work with Boldgrid. Do you have any suggestions that may help me?

    Thank you in advance,

    Michelle

    Hello Michelle,

Thanks for the question about creating a Business Directory with a Map Locator using BoldGrid. BoldGrid is a plugin for WordPress, so if you’re using a different plugin, then you would not really be using BoldGrid for that function.  I did upload a plugin in order to see if it would work and it did for me.  I had to add it to my menu as a separate link, but it worked when I tried it.  I used the CM Business Directory plugin.   I also loaded the CM Maps locator for it too.  In order to use Google maps you would need to add your key.  Google changed their policy on using their maps in June.  Here’s one of the many explanations on the issue.  The business directory can definitely be created using simple links and images directly in BoldGrid, but you would need to have a separate page within your WordPress installation if you intend to use a plugin solution.

I hope this helps to answer your question, please let us know if you require any further  assistance.

    Regards,

    Arnel C.

    Hello Arnel,

Thank you so much for your quick response. I was able to create a link on my menu for the directory plugin, but confused when it comes to the Map Locations plugin. I added it as a widget, but not seeing it on the site. I got a Google maps key and entered it under the plugin setting but still nothing. Is that what I will need to have a separate page for?

Thank you again for all your assistance,

    Michelle

    Hello celestedesign,

It appears that the CM Map Location plugin does not play well with BoldGrid. We can get it to work without using a BoldGrid theme, but when using a BoldGrid theme, it does not work.

You may want to test different map location plugins or simply embed map locations from Google maps onto the pages.

    Kindest Regards,
    Scott M
