Hi folks, BoldGrid has all kinds of options to hide or show elements by device type, but somehow not for the header? Can that be? I’m using Westview theme.

Westview has a built-in mobile menu in the Primary Menu location, that will automatically close down to a “hamburger” style menu on smaller devices.
There are workarounds to let you use the mobile menu in other locations.
You can also use a plugin like Max Mega Menu to customize your menu appearance.
If there’s something specific you’d like to accomplish with your mobile menu, let us know and we can also help you out with any custom CSS or design you need more assistance with. This feature is also included in our Crio Theme without the need for custom work.

I’m not sure I understand it yet– my fault– but I wonder why you speak of menus?
I guess they are a big part of headers, but I was thinking about text and logos, showing or not showing them depending on device.
Also trying to reduce the dead-space beneath the logo… maybe it *is* a phantom menu that’s causing it. In design mode– and only then– I see the ‘hamburger’ beneath my logo, even though I don’t think I have a menu there.
Anyhow, I’ll keep banging away, thanks again!

Forgive me for the misunderstanding, I had noticed your menu was in the “Above Header” location instead of the “Primary” location so I made a bad assumption.
I can help out with reducing the space below your logo. Navigate to Customize > Advanced > Custom JS & CSS and paste this line into your Custom Theme CSS:
h3.site-description { height: 0px; }If you can give any more details about which elements you’d like to hide depending on device size, let us know specifically and we’ll be happy to help further.
Thanks again, that’s splendid. The css works perfectly on a laptop, so now it seems clear that the extra space on a phone is, in fact, caused by the menu.
I have capitulated to the ‘Primary’ location, so that at least makes sense that there’s something there, and will try to figure out later how to move it.
