I installed W3 Total Cache. Shortly after configuring it, I began getting this error message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 9844552 bytes) in /home/…/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 2022

This happened on almost every page I attempted to navigate to–even when trying to get to the dashboard. I have deactivated the plugin but I still have the error making my website unusable.

Is there a simple fix that a non-technical person could implement?

    Hello Bill,

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to assist you with this.
This is related to the W3 Total Cache, however, it’s also related to your server resources need for the W3 Total Cache to do its job.
The Error means that the PHP memory is exhausted and reached the limit of 40MB in your case, and what you need to do is to increase the memory limit.
Its recommended using 128MB or 256 MB
You can find out more on how to achieve this in this article, and if you are unsure about this, please make sure to reach out to your hosting provider.

Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions.

    Thanks!
