    Hello Team,

I am Praneethraj, and I am a website and cybersecurity consultant and contractor for many web development companies.

I have a particular request to know more about your plugin so that i can implement your service without worrying about client websites getting hacked.

I am looking for a functionality as below :

    1) Do your plugin find/identify malicious and misconfigured or wordpress files infected with javascript (eval() obfuscated codes) by injection attack target. such as htaccess, index.php.

    2) Are there real time detection and prevention methods ?

    3) Will your plugin only change / replace the affected file from backup without downtime of the website?

    4) Will your plugin keep a backup of the infected file for the user/company team to investigate ?

    5) Does your plugin detect file permission changes and rewrite it with necessary one / take necessary actions?

    6) What is the restore time taken to get the website live back to normal and working?

    7) what are the terms of no downtime policy if available? Will it work normally? or cache images?

    8) If there is no downtime option? Then how does it work, what is the guarantee we rely on? is it a hot, warm or cold backup downtime manager?

    9) Does it run cron jobs? what is the resource load it consumes for that instance?

I am looking for more facts and figure based answers. I have been working with many other plugins as well and after this mail I will be confirming the order based on the price and number of domains options you give.

Please respond to each query with number so i can understand, if there are no exact features you can also let me know about the alternative od similar one requested in your plugin

Thank you in advance, waiting for your reply.

    Hi Praneethraj,

Thanks for reaching out with your Total Upkeep backups and migrations questions.

I’ll try as best I can to give you a detailed breakdown of your questions but I do want to you know that while it seems like security is your primary concern, that is not really what total upkeep is designed for.

Total Upkeep makes backups and helps with update management, but there’s no scanning for malicious files or real time threat prevention measures.

    1) Do your plugin find/identify malicious and misconfigured or wordpress files infected with javascript (eval() obfuscated codes) by injection attack target. such as htaccess, index.php.

No, our plugin does not assist or detect security vulnerabilities such as malicious and misconfigured or wordpress files infected with malware.

    2) Are there real time detection and prevention methods ?

No again Total Upkeep’s specific focus is file backup and site migrations.

    3) Will your plugin only change / replace the affected file from backup without downtime of the website?

Since the plugin cannot detect infected files, there wouldn’t be a way for it to automatically replace it.

    4) Will your plugin keep a backup of the infected file for the user/company team to investigate ?

You can setup manual backups and well as automated backups with Total Upkeep and store them on your web server. If you happen to take a backup where infected files are present then yes, it will be stored on your web server.

    5) Does your plugin detect file permission changes and rewrite it with necessary one / take necessary actions?

As far as I know file permissions are set at the server level

    6) What is the restore time taken to get the website live back to normal and working?

The restore time depends on the backup size and available web server resources but most restorations finish in less than a minute In my experience.

    7) what are the terms of no downtime policy if available? Will it work normally? or cache images?

I’m not exactly sure of the downtime policy you’re referring to, normally that would be something you’d need to speak with your web hosting provider about. They may be able to assist in the matter.

    8) If there is no downtime option? Then how does it work, what is the guarantee we rely on? is it a hot, warm or cold backup downtime manager?

I apologize, I’m not familiar with hot, warm, or could backup downtime managers. Maybe you could elaborate on this.

    9) Does it run cron jobs? what is the resource load it consumes for that instance?

Total Upkeep allows you to schedule backups with cron jobs, and it uses either crontab (system cron) or WP Cron for managing those schedules.

There is another cron that Total Upkeep creates automatically that runs every 5 minutes. That cron checks for backup files that need to be uploaded to third party storage locations and uploads them, but it only does so for scheduled backups. Manual backups are never uploaded automatically, at least not currently.

If you’re looking for a security solution you might want to try Wordfence Security plugin or even the All in One plugin suite (now Team Updraft) as these may better fit your needs.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions for us.
