I am using boldgrid crio premium. I want to link my site and domain to my mailchimp account. To do that I need to add some code to my site header just before the head tag closing.

I have tried inserting this code using plugins that add code snippets but it doesn’t seem to work. How can I add this code to my website?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Dan,

Thanks for using BoldGrid Crio! That’s a great question, you’re right that WordPress doesn’t have a super easy way to insert tracking codes into the header or footer of your site.

What code snippet plugins have you tried? There are lots of different solutions possible, we recommend Header Footer Code Manager. You could also try a MailChimp specific plugin like MC4WP.

Please let us know more details so we can further assist.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

I have tried various plugins and none of them seem to work because the code needs to be just before the closing head tag and the plug ins don’t seem to be able to handle that.

I have tried the MC4WP thing too but that doesn’t allow me to validate my domain with mailchimp

is there a way I can do this in the site’s files? I can add the code manually I just cant find the correct page in the crio files.

    Hi Dan-

Thanks for the update, sorry to hear that you’re still having trouble using those plugins.

While you can modify Crio’s files directly, I strongly don’t recommend this tactic because any customizations you make will be overwritten whenever you update the Crio Theme.

Instead, I suspect that something else might have caused the problems while you were using Header Footer Code Manager of MC4WP. The official MailChimp plugin, particularly, should be able to handle everything for you, and Header/Footer Code is a fairly simple plugin that is normally quite reliable.

Keep in mind that while lots of instructions for code like this use the verbiage, “right before the closing head tag,” as long as the code is present anywhere in the head it will work correctly.

Glancing at your site, I did notice that you’re using Page Caching from W3 Total Cache, which means that the Head of your site will be stored in cache, so do make sure that you’re clearing your page cache whenever you make updates to your header code, that could certainly explain why you don’t see the changes right away.

I tried again using the code manager and cleared all the caches and I think it did the trick. I didn’t think about the cache

thanks a lot for the help!
