I’ve built a portfolio site using BoldGrid and have placed some videos using media/video. They’re showing as a black box with a “play” icon/triangle rather than the first frame of the video paused/static. I thought that the “show images” check box would control this when using the “edit” feature for the video. But it does not appear to change anything. Perhaps that’s only for multiple videos in a playlist? Is there any way to achieve what I’m looking for? Thanks, Rob

Thanks for reaching out! I checked out your page, and it looks like you’re using the Crio Theme and the Post and Page Builder for your website design.
Most commonly, you’ll set the thumbnail with the video hosting service, such as YouTube or Vimeo. When using a self-hosted video file, your process will be a little different. Hover over your video, and click the Edit “pencil” icon:
Then, you’ll see the Select Poster Image option, which will let you choose an image from your media library or upload a new thumbnail for your video.
Call me crazy, but I do not see that option anywhere. I’m searching BoldGrid’s youtube channel for the video featured in your post screengrab. It would help if support replies included the video link. It would surely help users help themselves. Also- the search in this forum is weaksauce. If I type in “select poster image” I get zero results. If I type

And that answer is essentially the answer I received and therefore no more detail. I certainly appreciate the quick reply, just making note of the potential for improvements. the right way to add a poster image to a video in WordPress is to edit the video in your media library, click on Edit more details, and add a Featured Image to your video. This will act as the poster for this video when it appears paused before starting.
I headed back to my WP dashboard, then: Media Gallery: click video file icon: Edit more details: Set feature image
