I have an old website through InMotionHosting and WordPress, higginswriting.com, which I want to replace with the new website, listed above. When I started with Inspirations with BoldGrid I think I designated this an Active Site rather than a Staging Site, so maybe that’s the problem. At any rate, when I type in higginswriting.com I still get the old site, and I have no idea how to make my new BoldGrid site take the place of the old site. How do I go live with new site?

    Hi Steve,
As a first note, if you still see “Active” and “Staging” sites, I recommend that you disable the plugin BoldGrid Staging. We’re not actively developing that plugin any more, and we recommend using BoldGrid Cloud WordPress to more safely develop your staging sites.

That being said, in this case you’re not using BoldGrid Staging for this update, you’ve got two different URL’s for your “Old” site and your “New” one. We have a step-by-step guide on deploying your staging site with the Total Upkeep Plugin, along with a video tutorial:

Yes I had watched a tutorial, and I watched this one you sent. None of it helps, because every time I go to the WordPress dashboard for my existing site and go to Total Upkeep/Transfers, it will not accept the Download Link that I copied from the Source section of Total Upkeep at the new site dashboard.

I have tried multiple times. I copy the download link as suggested, then I paste it in under Destination at the WordPress Dashboard at my existing site, and it won’t take it. I know it expires after an hour, so believe me I did it right away. This is very frustrating. I am stuck with an old site I don’t want anymore. I’m not even changing hosts, it’s still InMotionHosting.

    Hi Steve-
When you say, “it won’t take it,” are you getting an error message or any other feedback? Can you paste a download link here (after it’s expired, or replacing some characters at the end with ***) so I can check on the link?

The newest Download Link is: http://domain.com/bg_domain.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=boldgrid_backup_download&t=28678510cc29150f7721a81c0989dc8c The message I get is:

    Total Upkeep – Restoration failed

Could not extract file from archive.: ./

    Hi Steve-
Thanks a lot for the additional info. Most often, this error is because the actual backup file is somehow corrupted. If that’s the case, try making a new backup to transfer.

If you’ve already tried that, a couple of other things to try:

    1. Make sure the Total Upkeep plugins on both sites are up-to-date.
    2. Change the Zip Compressor to System Zip (on both plugins). Here’s one of our developers showing you how to do this, at about the 1:30 mark in this video:
