When someone shares my webpage on Facebook it shows my logo instead of my cover photo.  I have used the Facebook debugging tool (this link is preloaded with my website) and it tells me that:

The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

Digging deeper into the scrapped url log , I can see that there is a whole lot of code in here that I can’t edit from my normal editor.

Please tell me how and exactly what line of HTML I need to put where in order to select a specific image to show in Facebook shares.

    Hi,

Thanks for posting your question regarding the image displayed when sharing a page from your website on Facebook. I’m sorry to see that the image that is displaying is not the one you intended. This post here outlines how you can assign a “Featured Image” to your posts and pages, which is what Facebook will use when sharing them.

The ‘og:image’ property should be provided, once the ‘Featured Image’ has been added to the page/post. I hope this helps!

    Sincerely,

    Carlos E

I have set the featured image as you described and it continues to select another image.  I’ve refreshed and rescraped.  The debugger still gives me the og:image error too

If you continue to have a problem with the OG image, you may want to try using a WordPress plugin.  Here’s an example of one. Also, make sure that you have cleared your browser cache. Otherwise, if you continue to have the problem, please provide us a URL so that we can take a look at the issue in more depth.
