Having trouble setting up a private viewing page. I would like to add a password button or link for a visitor to have access to a .pdf document. Only those website visitors/users having the password would be able to see the .pdf document.
Also, the page I created that has the .pdf document (added via the media button feature of BoldGrid) opens with just the .pdf link showing versus the user being able to actually view or see the .pdf document.

Thanks for the question about password protecting a PDF document. There are two ways to password protect a PDF file. You can directly require a password to open a PDF using a PDF editor like Adobe Acrobat. This is not something that is part of the WordPress functionality. You would need to use a PDF editor like Adobe Acrobat in order to enable the password requirement.
You can also add a page or post and then publish it as a Password Protected page or post. Then the page or post and anything in it would not be available unless the user types in the password.
- Log in to the WordPress Administrator Dashboard
- Open the Post or page where you have added the PDF file
- In the Publish section, click on EDIT next to the Visibility label.
- Select Password Protected and then type in a password.
- Click on PUBLISH button to save your changes.
When you view the page or post, it will look like this:

Thank for helping on the password issue. I was able to set that feature.
Still having trouble on the second part of my question. Once the password is entered and you move on to the page that should display the .pdf document you only see the .pdf link or file name. Is there coding or something else that needs to be done for .pdf to viewed?
I checked this and PDF files are apparently not embedding with BoldGrid. My suggestion (and recommendation) is to simply install a PDF Embedder plugin. The one I downloaded allowed me to upload the PDF file into the Media library and then insert into the post with no issues. I was able to preview the post and see the PDF immediately.
