    Hello,
I am trying to control the log in and log out menu settings. Meaning some menu items show up when logged in and vice versa.
Like with Ultimate member it suppose to show the settings in the “WP dashboard, customize, menu. but it doesn’t I tried several other plug ins but non of them work.
So I am thinking the theme is preventing to do so. The theme I am using is Westview Version: 1.3.7
    By The BoldGrid Team.
Is this correct and what can I do besides changing the theme?
    Thanks
    Johannes

    Hi Johannes-

Thanks for reaching out, I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having.

If I’m understanding you correctly, you’re talking about menu items in the /wp-admin dashboard. The theme itself only changes the “front-end” of your site, and doesn’t have any effect on the menu items in the “back-end” of the site.

Generally speaking, the menu items that are visible depend on the user’s role and capabilities. For example, your primary user account is an administrator role, which means it has all of the capabilities in the site, so all of the menu items will be visible to that user.

WordPress has several default roles, including:

    • Administrator
    • Editor
    • Author
    • Contributor
    • Subscriber

As an example, an Editor is able to edit other user’s posts and pages, but they can’t make administrative changes like accessing the Customize menu or the Plugins menu. A Subscriber, on the other hand, won’t have any menu items other than the main Dashboard and their own profile.

There are a couple of plugins you can use to edit and test your user roles. You can use User Role Editor to change what capabilities your roles have, including hiding and showing specific menus. You can also use the User Switching plugin to easily switch users so you can see exactly what the dashboard looks like in different roles.

I have found several issues with Ultimate Member and Boldgrid theme plugins

Try disabling the Inspirations plugin, this will give you access to a different menu control panel where Ultimate member will allow what appears based on role. That is a feature built into UM. (I’m a long time user of Ultimate Member, great plugin)

Also, the Crio Theme has some other issues with the profile and user page file uploads

    Hi Steve-

You’re right that the Inspirations plugin does change some menu items. You can disable this behavior by navigating to Settings > BoldGrid Inspirations and disabling the option to Use BoldGrid Admin Menu system.

Can you describe the issues you’re seeing with the Profile and User Page File Uploads sections, so we can take a look and try to troubleshoot? What should be happening that isn’t, or if anything looks off?
