I have been developing and overseeing the homeatfirst.com website using BoldGrid since 2018. A commonly-used function no longer works for me:

When I want to widen a column by grabbing and pulling the right or left column border, a vertical red line appears along the column border I am attempting to pull-expand blocking my action. However — although the column width does not appear changed in the visual editor — the action does re-configure the page’s code for the column size. When “published” the page does display an expanded column, although it does not display the expanded column in the visual editor.

The BoldGrid tutorial for this column-expanding feature continues to show the same instructions as it has for the past 4 years, so I’m guessing that the feature should operate normally, but some kind of glitch has happened.

    Can you help?

    Hi Ron,

Thanks so much for reaching out with your BoldGrid Post and Page Builder questions. Sorry to hear you’re having a bit of trouble but let’s see if we can help you out.

I attempted to recreate this your column expansion issue using a testing environment with the WestView WordPress theme and Post and Page Builder and I did not experience any issues.

I know WordPress implemented a major update to WordPress 6.0 that could be the source of your issues. You should double check to be sure that your WordPress Core, WestView theme and Post and Page Builder plugins are all up to date.

I hope this helps. If the problem persist please link us to a URL where the issue is present so that we can inspect it using browser tools.

    Hi, Brandon,

and thanks for addressing my Post and Page Builder questions. I have double-checked my site status and all three suggested areas are indeed up-to-date (WordPress Core 6.0; WestView theme; Post and Page Builder plug-ins). I still cannot manipulate column widths in the Post and Page Builder visual editor on any page in my homeatfirst.com site (regardless of Firefox or Chrome browser).

Here’s a page URL with four columns you might investigate using your browser tools:
    https://homeatfirst.com/home/current-travel-bargains/
(Please don’t alter anything. This is a key page on our site.)

    Hoping you find something.

One more thing — I notice that although I have installed the Connect Key and have the Post & Page Builder activated! I cannot be sure the Post and Page Builder Premium Extension that I have downloaded is installed and functioning. Could this be a cause of my issues?

    Thanks, and regards,
    Ron

    Hi Ron!

I inspected your page here and just to be sure we’re focusing on the correct area could you send us a screenshot of the column structure you’re currently working with?

I think just like your other issue, this is likely tied to your BoldGrid Premium Connect key and Post and Page Builder Premium. You may need to log in to your BoldGrid Central account, copy your Premium Connect key and paste it into your BoldGrid settings on your website.

You can also download the latest version of Post and Page Builder from the plugins section of your BoldGrid Central account if you need to reinstall it.

I hope this helps to resolve your concerns Ron! Let us know if you have any other questions.

I’m having the same issue with the red line appearing when I try to resize a column by dragging the edge.

    Hi Jennifer,

Your issue is most seems to be similar to Ron’s, where it’s tied to the Post and Page Builder/Crio Premium functionalities. I’d encourage you to log in to your BoldGrid Central account, copy your Premium Connect key and paste it into your BoldGrid settings on your website.

I hope this helps to resolve your issue.

    Hi, Brandon,
I’m glad to hear that Jennifer W. has experienced the column-resizing problem I have been wrestling with. Makes me feel the issue is not mine alone and may be spreading throughout the BoldGrid community.

I wish I could report that the installing and activating the Premium Connect Key was the magic bullet for the column re-sizing issue. It was not. The problem continues for me, and the work-around alternative solutions are cumbersome and require trial and error, as they require altering the coding in the text format and do not display the changes in the visual format. One must publish and inspect to see if the changes made were indeed the ones needed.

The Premium Connect Key suggestion did not solve two other glitches I’m experiencing in Post and Page Builder:
    1. When creating a hyperlink in BoldGrid visual editor, I’ve lost the ability for advance settings (such as opening the link in a new tab). Instead, no choice is offered, and all links are default set to open in the same tab as where created. No solution for this glitch has yet been found.
    2. When altering line height &/or letter spacing of a in the BoldGrid Post and Page Builder visual editor’s Text Setting drop-down menu, the incremental changes by Px (pixel unit) no longer functions. Instead one must guestimate in percentages of EM units in order to get the desired leading and character widths. Not impossible to do, but, frankly, annoying.

Any ideas out there? Suggestions for fixes or run-arounds will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks Ron,

Can you confirm that inside of the plugins section of your WordPress dashboard that you see all Three of these plugins “Crio Premium”, “BoldGrid Post and Page Builder”, “BoldGrid Post and Page Builder Premium”?

All three need to be installed and activated on top of the Crio Premium theme for all said features to function properly.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi, Brandon,

Only two of the 3 are loaded, current, and active: BoldGrid Post and Page Builder, and BoldGrid Post and Page Builder Premium.

I searched for the Crio Premium theme or plug-in at BoldGrid Central and at WordPress. When I found Crio Premium on BoldGrid Central and attempted to download it, the download link went to the BoldGrid Post and Page Builder plug-in.

When I found a Crio Premium plug-in download at WordPress, it did download a zip file, but several attempts to load the new plug-in to my plug-in roster failed.

    Any suggestions?

The column resizing problem seems to have resolved itself for me, mostly. Here’s what I did:
    1. Inserted all the blocks I created in the past, from my block library, that had columns
    2. Some of the columns wouldn’t resize, but one worked. Not sure why.
    3. Checked other pages on my site and the column resize worked again. The red line still appears on the edge of a column when I resize, but the size does change in Page Editor view.
    4. Reinstalled the BG Premium Connect key, but it didn’t make any change.

BTW, I don’t have Crio Premuim installed – just basic/free Crio.

    Hi Ron,

Sorry to hear you’re still having trouble with this. Could you please reach out to the Premium Support channel inside of your BoldGrid Central account so that we can get you over the correct version of Crio Premium.

With your permission we could also log into your site directly to take a look at your current setup. I’m just guessing here but if there’s an error and Crio Premium’s not uploading correctly for you it could be effecting the current functionality in your theme as well. We’d be happy to take a look as it could help us document this issue and resolve it on a broader bases.

We look forward to assisting you further with this!

    Hi Jennifer,

I’m so happy to hear your functionality is for the most part restored. That’s is very interesting that the issue resolved itself on its own on your end. Did you perhaps update WordPress Core, your Crio theme, or Post and Page Builder plugin in the midst of your troubleshooting? I’m wondering if it could have possibly been a version clash.

We look forward to hearing from you!

    Hi, Brandon,

Thanks for the follow-up. As you have suggested, I have requested help getting the correct version of Crio Premium for my site set-up, by emailing the Premium Support Channel at BoldGrid Central.

While I wait for a response from Premium Support at BoldGrid Central, I am very willing to grant you permission to log into my site directly to take a look at your current setup to see if there’s an error keeping Crio Premium from uploading correctly and possibly affecting the current functionality in my site’s theme. Naturally, since there seems perhaps at least another reported example of these kind of problems I would like to help resolve it for my site and others out there.

    Hi Brandon,
I didn’t update those items in the midst of troubleshooting. Sorry I can’t be definitive on what caused the glitch or the recovery.
Using a block from my block library seemed to help.
    Regards,
    Jennifer
