    Hi,
I am having lots of trouble getting one of my sites to work. It had been working before, but I rebuilt the site, and after that, the backup will only work locally, not to Google.

Here’s the weird part – I did the reinstall of Total Upkeep for this site, but it made another “Bold Grid Backups” folder (a duplicate) instead of using the existing one. Is this by design?

Also, I did the authorization bit, but I still cannot get the backup to arrive at Google Drive.

    Can you help? Thanks.

    Hi David,

Sorry to hear you’re have trouble sending your Total Upkeep backups to Google Drive. You want to make sure the box is checked for Google Drive storage from the Total Upkeep -> Settings -> Backup Storage section.

I hope this helps David! Please let us know if there’s anything else that we can answer for you.

    Brandon,
Thanks for answering. I tried that and many other things, and no go. I’m afraid it’s time for me to shop for another solution.

In case this is helpful, I’ll mention that my site went down hard (not due to Total Upkeep). It was not recoverable – when I installed a backup, it had the same error. So I deleted the site and installed a fresh copy of WP, Total Upkeep, etc. No joy. For one thing, it kept installing a duplicate Google Drive folder for the site. At that point, even after triple checking all settings, nothing reached the Google drive.

Maybe there was some issue between having a brand new Total Upkeep session coming from the existing site and setup.

I’m afraid it’s time for me to shop for a new backup solution.

    Take care,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

I definitely understand your frustration. We haven’t had any other contacts mention an error with Google Drive so it’s more than likely tied to your previous issue. I located a troubleshooting doc we’ve specifically written for this issue that might help you.

In summary, can you confirm that (1) in your Total Upkeep settings you do have “Google Drive” checked, and (2) you’re using “Cron” and not “WP Cron”?

When you can confirm the above, we can figure out our next troubleshooting steps.

Thank you, and we do understand if you decide to move on after reviewing this information I just wanted to leave you with it. Take care, Dave.

Thanks for your message. Yes, I had those 2 settings correctly chosen early on. I am a very thorough troubleshooter. 🙂

What is really bizarre is that when there is already a Boldgrid folder on Google Drive for that site (and full of other sites that work fine), the plugin makes a duplicate Boldgrid folder with a subfolder for the site that it won’t write to. 😁

I realize that it would be a hassle for you to set up a test situation like that, so it may just be a footnote unless somebody else has the problem. If so, you could set up a site, get it working with Total Upkeep, collect a few backups to Drive – then you could delete the site, install WordPress anew, add Total Upkeep, and see if it properly sends to Drive.

    Cheers, Dave

    Hi Dave,

We appreciate you for working through this with us. We’ll definitely set this up and test the issue ASAP. If we can replicate it we’ll address it immediately and get a patch out in the next Total Upkeep update.

We want to be sure we’re not leaving any potential issues lingering so all your testing is definitely very helpful. Have you checked your backup logs by chance to see if they reveal anything?
