WordPress does not allow the original admin to be deleted, and there is no option to start a website with a different user name as admin other than the email address we register with.

I normally set up websites with unusual admin user names, and not “admin” or the email log in. I am aware I can set up an additional admin, however, that does not change the issue that an easy to find email can be used to attempt hacking events.

How can we deal with this or can we? Or do I have to try and change it thru a database edit after the site is hosted and out of production?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

    Hi Andy-

Using a database editing tool would definitely be one way to accomplish this. You can also actually delete the original administrator from another administrator account.

However, there is a better way too. You can use the Username Changer Plugin which makes the process work natively in the WordPress Users menu.
