Total Upkeep is not at all ‘total’. When I click on any of the options I just get a message saying that my website has a critical problem and I need to read the email in admin email. I don’t seem to have an admin email folder … or, if I have, it’s not called that. I’ve checked out the site health option and fixed all the ‘critical’ things on there but Total Upkeep still gives me the same message and often fails to complete a backup.

    Hi David-

I’m sorry to hear your experiencing some issues with backups failing, we’ll be happy to help out. Total Upkeep makes a log every time you create a backup, and that’s going to be the place we want to check first.

Navigate to Total Upkeep > Tools > Logs and look for your most recent log with a name like archive-XXXXXXXX.log. If you can copy that and paste it here, we’ll be able to get some more information about what went wrong.

We look forward to hearing from you.

As I mentioned in my initial post above, whatever option of Total Backup I click on I get the same message. I’ve just clicked on Tools as you suggested and this is what came up ….

“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

    Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.”
    &
This is all I can get. Interestingly, my host site has just sent me an automatic alert saying there is a problem caused by Total Upkeep!!!!!! I haven’t looked at the details yet but I’m going to delete Total Upkeep.

I’ve also had a conflict with the BoldGrid Post & Page Builder that stopped me editing products; and had to deactivate that too.

I just submitted a long response and it doesn’t seem to have gone through ….. so I’ll have to repeat myself ….

This is all that comes up on the Total Upkeep option.
Interestingly I’ve just received an email from my host saying that I have a critical problem on my website caused by Total Upkeep !!!!!???? I haven’t looked at the details yet but I had a massive problem at the beginning of the week where I couldn’t edit products and the only thing that cured that was to deactivate the BoldGrid Plug & Page Builder!
Looks like I need to deactivate Total Upkeep too …..

    Thanks David,

Sorry, yes the responses on our forum topics have to be approved before they display live.

Can you confirm that your WordPress core up to date and also confirm your php version?

You could try deactivating both plugins and then reactivating them to see if that restores functionality and you should also review your Premium License key just to be sure it’s still enabled. You’re more than welcome to reach out to our Premium Support channel as well where you can grant us access to your website so that we can log in and review your issue directly.

    I hope this helps David!

    Hi David,

I’m sorry to hear of the issues you’re having. I can understand the frustration, and I appreciate you working with us on this. I wanted to offer another set of eyes here. Taking a step back, it looks like we’re dealing with two issues:

    1. When you click on various links in the dashboard, you’re getting error messages.
    2. Your backups are not completing.

In order to troubleshoot why your backups are not working, we need to see a copy of the backup logs. However, you cannot access  your logs because of the error messages that you’re seeing. So, the first thing we need to do is figure out exactly what those critical errors are.

There are at least 3 ways to find out what those critical errors are:

    1. The critical errors have been emailed to you.
    2. If you cannot find that email, you may be able to use a plugin to view your WordPress error logs. If you wouldn’t mind trying this please, there’s a plugin called Error Log Monitor that may be able to help.
    3. If all else fails, your host may be able to review the error logs and provide you with the fatal errors.

Once you can get a copy of the fatal errors, please let us know and we’ll be happy to assist further.

    Thanks again,
    – Brad
