Setting up Google Analytics for your BoldGrid Website is important if you want to be able to monitor your traffic, and make decisions about your site based on that data. This article will walk you through setting up Google Analytics and adding your BoldGrid site to it

 

 

Adding your site to Google Analytics

  1. Login to Google Analytics. If you do not already have a Google Analytics account, you can use the sign up link here as well to create one.
  2. Select Website
  3. Enter the Account Name you want to use.
  4. Enter your Website’s Name
  5. Enter your Website’s URL exactly as it shows in the browser address bar
  6. You can select your Industry and Time Zone here, and customize what is shared with Google;
    Modifying these settings is not required to continue
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Get Tracking ID
  8. To use Google Analytics, you must agree to their Terms of Service;
    Select your Country of Residence, and Click I Accept to continue
  9. You will be redirected to the Google Analytics Home Page when complete

Congratulations! You now know how to set up Google Analytics, and add your site to it. Next we are going to add a Plugin called Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights, and use it to connect your site to the Analytics account we just set up. The following step by step guide will show you how to accomplish this.

 

Adding the Plugin to your BoldGrid Site

  1. Login to your BoldGrid Site
  2. Select Plugins > Add New
  3. Search for Google Analytics
  4. Click to Install “Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights”
  5. Click Activate
  6. Click the link to configure Google Analytics Settings
  7. Click Authenticate with Google Account
  8. Click Next
  9. Click Get Google Code
  10. Choose your Google Account
  11. Enter your Google Account Password, and click Next
  12. Select Allow, to give MonsterInsights permission to View and Manage your Analytics data
  13. Select and copy the code that is provided to you, and close the popup window
  14. Paste the Code into the box, and click Next
  15. Select the Profile you created earlier in Google Analytics
  16. Click Close

You may have noticed after installing BoldGrid that the WordPress admin menu has been modified. Some buttons have been added, others have disappeared. For example, the WordPress Appearance tab is gone. You now have Customize instead. If you are new to WordPress and BoldGrid, then this may not affect your experience at all.

However, if you are a WordPress veteran, you may want to bring back the look and feel of your default WordPress admin menu. Learn how to restore the WordPress admin menu after you have installed BoldGrid.

Restore WordPress Admin Menu

Follow the steps below to restore your default WordPress admin menu:

  1. Click BoldGridUnder Settings choose BoldGrid.
  2. Uncheck boxFor the setting titled Reorder Admin Menu uncheck the box labeled Use BoldGrid Admin Menu system.
  3. Save ChangesClick Save Changes.

3711_Selection_05Notice how the admin menu has changed. The BoldGrid menu options have now been placed under the single BoldGrid icon, and the default WordPress options have appeared. For example, the Appearance options have appeared again.
