  1. Very disappointing – it looked brilliant.
downloaded the free plugin – did a first backup – stalled after 7% – no explanation of what was happening. Did it need a key? Was the “free” a ruse to get me to join premium – offered at $2.50 per month.
Still hanging so decided to bite the bullet and subscribe. Took the money but cannot find the “key” anywhere. Impossible – whoever builds these things should try and use them sometime form a new user perspective.
Tried looking further and it now wants $50 to join premium – and I already paid $30 for an annual subscription.
FRUSTRATING beyond belief and much wasted time.
It is sold as easy – I’m sure it is when working because on the face of it – it looks good – but just cannot get started.
I will now request a refund – here’s hoping – but not convinced it will happen.

    • Hello Evan,
First, I’d like to say that I’m very sorry for all your frustrations. I’d feel the same way if my first backup failed without any errors.
The free plugin is fully-functional, you only need to pay for a subscription if you need the premium features of Total Upkeep. I’ll try to address your concerns one-by-one.

      …did a first backup – stalled after 7%

It sounds like a technical issue is occurring, can you provide the logs from Total Upkeep -> Tools -> Logs so we can take a look and determine the cause of the error?

Did it need a key? …cannot find the “key” anywhere

The free plugin is fully functional without a key, but you can get a free key or premium key by clicking “Get a BoldGrid Connect Key” in the Admin Notice:
Sign up for a free connect key from your WordPress Dashboard
or by signing up for a BoldGrid Central Account.
I did check with our Support Team and they’ve confirmed that your refund has been processed, and I sincerely hope that we can earn back your trust to keep your website backed up in the future. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
