    in reply to: Changing background and text colour of footer widgets #22558

    Hi Carlos,
    My issue is that the widget titles and text in the two menu widgets isn’t white, it’s dark grey and black. My other issue is that there are white borders around the widgets, which I would like to remove or make #808080.
    Many thanks,
    Ali

    in reply to: Is there a theme suitable for an educational website? #22462

    Thanks.  Is it possible to use a theme from Envato and manage/customise it through Boldgrid?

    Hi, I have also similar question – I want to add text in front of “Follow me” as well after it. What should I do exactly. Could you please explain better and in details. I am not a programmer. Thanks in advance!

    Also, have you had a chance to figure out a solution to my question here? https://www.boldgrid.com/support/question/changing-background-and-text-color-of-footer-widgets/

    Thanks!

    Ali

    Hi Carlos,
    That’s great, thank you.
    If I change the bottom code to:
    .entry-title, .page-title {
    margin: 200px 0;
    } I can see my page title (where it was previously covered by the header), however there is now also 200px of white space below the page title – is there code that I can use that will put 200px above the title, but not below it?
    Thanks 🙂

    in reply to: How to Copy Active Site to Staging Site? #24433

    I just did a search with the same question Alan had, because I also want to copy my active site as a staging site so I can work on it at my leisure before launching it as an active site.  And like Alan, I am very surprised this feature does not exist.  It seems obvious.  Of course, I am a novice, so I suppose there are complications I don’t understand.  But it sure seems to make sense to have that option.

    Hi Carlos,

    Thank you, but that doesn’t quite solve my problem. I am wanting to do two things:

    1. Stop my header from overlapping with my page title.

    When I add the code to lock my header (.site-header {
    position: fixed;
    top: 0;
    width: 100%;
    z-index: 2000;
    }
    ) it changes the layout of my page so that the header overlaps and covers my page title. This results in the page titles not being visible, even when you scroll to the very top of the page. They are visible when I remove this code, but I would like to keep it as I need my header to always be visible. How can I lock my header and not have it cover my page title text?

    2. Reduce the height of my header

    Currently my header contains my logo on the left and primary menu on the right, and has a large amount of white space underneath these two things. I would like to reduce the height of my header so that it ends just below my logo and menu, is this possible?

    Thanks again for your help,

    Ali

    in reply to: Changing background and text color of footer widgets #22520

    Hi there, thanks for approving my question, but should I submit it as a new question or will someone answer it in this thread? Sorry – I’m not able to comment for some reason, I keep getting a pop-up message saying that the comment can’t be posted. Thanks 🙂

    in reply to: How can I cancel my boldgrid subsciption? #23290

    This is not the correct or relevant answer. New users can register through BoldGrid.com and get a Premium Key by upgrading within BoldGrid Central. There is absolutely no way to request for refund there. Your product’s landing page is misleading too. You trick us into believing that the product also provides hosting services which is not true.

    in reply to: Changing background and text color of footer widgets #22521

    Hi Carlos,

    That’s great, thank you! That code has worked.

    Is there some extra code I can add in there that will make the widget borders #808080 too? And the text in the text widget is now white, but the menu widgets still have black text (which are links, not plain text), and the headings are black still too – is there code that will make all text white?

    Thanks!

    This is not a satisfactory answer. You need to mention how to request refund if the key is purchased from BoldGrid first. This is the exact reason why I do not trust such websites anymore. Your guys urge us to make payments to test the premium features but then make it very difficult to request for help or refunds.

    Hi Arnel,

    Thank you for this, it worked!

    However, now the header seems to be covering the page title on each page (for example the top of this page should say Contact us: http://biz242.inmotionhosting.com/~resili20/bg_resiliencechallenge.nz/contact-us/) – is there a way I can stop this from happening? I’d also like to reduce the height of the header so that it stops just below my logo image – would that be possible?

    Many thanks

    in reply to: Changing background and text color of footer widgets #22522

    Hi Arnel,
    Thank you for this. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be working for me. I’ve tried adding it to the custom CSS and the publishing and nothing changed – the widgets remain white with black text. It seems like it should work – the .well is grey and the colours are blue in the code, but nothing has changed.
    Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thanks 🙂
    Ali

    Thanks, John-Paul! I had checked Menus,  but this time I noticed that the Upper Right drop-down menu was set to blank instead of “Select.” I changed it to “Select”, and the contact icons disappeared. Thank you so much!

    in reply to: Changing background and text colour of footer widgets #22560

    Hi John-Paul,

    Thank you for that. I tried using that code in the text editor, but nothing changed.

    My site is: http://biz242.inmotionhosting.com/~resili20/bg_resiliencechallenge.nz/

    As you can see my footer area is grey (#808080), but the widgets have white backgrounds and black text. I’d like to change them to have #808080 backgrounds and white text.

    Thanks again for your help,

    Ali

    in reply to: Changing the opacity of the home page button #22600

    Hi,

    I never received an answer to this question. I have the Swifty template and I would like the ‘Home Page’ button background color to be transparent but with a border for the button box. I looked at the coding using Chrome, but to change the coding on this is beyond my level of competence and knowledge. The template seems to be using the “btn btn-glow color4” coding. Could you please advise on how to accomplish this.

    Thanks

    That is correct. I want the margins of the body text (including the article title) to be reduced, so the reading experience is not forcing a person’s eyes to span nearly the entire screen on computers. I see a work around by using the advanced control setting in the individual text blocks, but that becomes unnecessarily cumbersome if I have to do that with each new paragraph.

    in reply to: How to Copy Active Site to Staging Site? #24435

    I think its crazy in this day and age a simple feature as duplicating Active to Staging is not built into Boldgrid. How could they ommit such a feature.

    The workaround would be extremely time-consuming. I feel it’s like a step back in time and now regret having my site designed using boldgrid.

    in reply to: Tour Operator Theme #22615

    Thank you. I don’t have web building experience, so I am really looking for the easiest possible route to get this done. Is it easy to get the look and feel I want from your pre-made themes or would it be best to just get a tour operator theme?

    in reply to: How do I get text to align left in footer widget #22630

    Hi Arnel, thank you for your answer. However, when I added that code all four of my widgets changed to having their text aligned left, but I only want my fist widget to align left. I would like all other widgets to align centre. I wasn’t able to figure out how to do this using Chrome’s inspect tool – do you know what code I would need to add to only change the text alignment of the left-hand footer widget (1)?

    Hi Arnel,

    Thank for helping on the password issue. I was able to set that feature.

    Still having trouble on the second part of my question. Once the password is entered and you move on to the page that should display the .pdf document you only see the .pdf link or file name. Is there coding or something else that needs to be done for .pdf to viewed?

    Thanks for the advice! I have no idea how to do this: The first step would be to review the PHP error_log and your web servers log and see what the full error message is for the 500 error and which script is throwing the error and paste the results here. but I did change which caching plug in I was using. It seems to be working better.

    Wordfence caught a section of code that was not properly deleted when an old version of a plugin was removed. That seems to have fixed things for now.

    I appreciate the help!

    The answer is toooooo vague, as is the error message in boldgrid.

    in reply to: Changing Theme Header Color – Cobalt Theme #22698

    Hi Again,

    Since I replied I was able to solve the problem by moving around the order of custom color blocks. That seemed to alter the color formatting on other areas within the site but able to go in and change the colors on the individual pages. Last question on this header/menu issue: how do you change the hover color for the menu?

    in reply to: Changing Theme Header Color – Cobalt Theme #22699

    Hi Christoper,

    Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, the Colors in the Customizer didn’t work. My website essentially uses four colors. The Active Palette has six colors. There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete the two unused colors (two grey colors #e8e8e8 and #e2e2e2). The issue is with the menu areas (i.e. home, contact, etc.) – both the header and footer (i.e. social media links, etc.) is showing the grey. I believe this might have happened when I changed the color of the font for the menu. The Cobalt theme has a green and white font color, with the hover also being in green. I changed this to remove the green in the CSS coding and may have inadvertently changed the background color of the header/footer in the process. Here’s my website so you can see the issue http://www.latchkeyproductions.com

    in reply to: install a wordpress theme #22742

    Seriously…. that tells me how to get the theme… no matter who I buy it from… into Boldgrid?  wow.  useless

    I am staging the “Uptempo” template.

    There is a black box on top, headed “What we offer” that just doesn’t appear in the editing process. I’m at a loss to edit this particular box.

    Am I supposed to just put the site up live to see if it really works, then switch back to the old site if it doesn’t work?

    I have edited the links, and yet they don’t go where they’re supposed to.

    If the links are only for aesthetics

    , where do they lead to? Which pages?

    in reply to: Recent Posts #22788

    Hello, i asked 2 questions yesterday about integrating Bold grid page editor with customize posts plugin. I saw it approved by John but it has now been deleted. Why? I believe this live customizer enviroment makes wordpress even easier for a non-tech person.

    This was the response i got from the author of the customize posts plugin.

    It would probably require that the Bold Grid plugin specifically integrate with Customize Posts. It’s probably only enqueueing assets on the edit post screen. In order to work in the Customizer, it would need to enqueue the assets in the Customizer as well. In short, I think this is something to raise with Bold Grid.

    Kindly help on getting this done.

    in reply to: Customizer Not Working #22749

    Thank you for your help! Is there an email I can contact to do this so that I don’t have to post my domain on this forum?

    in reply to: Saving Customizer Page #22755

    Thank you! But I’m not trying to change the name of my domain; I’m trying to change the background photo, which I think should be done with Customizer. But when I use Customizer to make changes to my background photo, there is no Publish button. Do you know what I should do?

    in reply to: Can you adjust line spacing on the headings? #22827

    Hi Carlos,

    I entered this into the custom CSS, and adjusted it to 1.9, and tried various numbers there up to 20 just to see if anything would happen, and then would click publish, and I could not find a difference. Am I changing the code for the line height correctly? This is what I have currently and cannot see a difference –

    @media
    (max-width:991px) {
    entry-title > h1 {
    line-height: 1.9;
    }
    }

    in reply to: How to turn Trial page to Active Site #22779

    John-Paul,

    Thanks for replying. I went to the boldgrid demo page.  https://www.boldgrid.com/demo/  did the 1 week free trial. Before it was up I was trying to figure out how to make it a real site. This was my page https://demo.boldgrid.com/trial-98dcb389/wp-admin

    Not looking for anything fancy. Would like a website and company email for 4 people. Currently spend to much on a Go Daddy page. I found this from an article and picked it because it offered low price but everything we are looking for. Article link https://websitesetup.org/website-builders/

    Thanks,
