Follow the directions to learn about the options and sections that you get with the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Total Upkeep<\/span>. &nbsp;Here&rsquo;s an example of a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Preflight Check<\/span>&nbsp;screen from the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Total Upkeep<\/span>&nbsp;tool:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boldgrid.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/cb9abc5c-32f3-4d04-983b-b58b71c69e17_bg-preflight-check.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boldgrid.com\/support\/boldgrid-inspirations-plugin-product-guide\/logging-in\/\">Login to the WordPress Dashboard<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Scroll down the menu in the left column and click on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Total Upkeep<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Hover or click on the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Total Upkeep<\/span>. Click on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Preflight Check<\/span>&nbsp;in the menu in order to run the check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the very top of the Preflight Check screen, you will see the Functionality test status. &nbsp;If everything works okay then your status will say <span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>PASS<\/strong> <\/span>in green. If it fails you will see a <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>FAIL<\/strong> <\/span>indicator along with information about what&rsquo;s causing the failure.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"troubleshooting-preflight-check-fails\">Troubleshooting Preflight check fails:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The Preflight check is for checking minimum requirements to create a backup. If Preflight check does not pass, the plugin will not even attempt to make a backup.<\/li>\n<li>For those backups that actually start but don&rsquo;t finish, the Preflight check will not reveal any info to help troubleshoot.&nbsp; Instead,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boldgrid.com\/support\/total-upkeep\/backup-wordpress-website\/#troubleshooting\"> see the &ldquo;troubleshooting&rdquo; section<\/a> of our &ldquo;how to backup&rdquo; article for further assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"using-the-wordpress-backup-preflight-check\">Using the WordPress Backup Preflight Check<\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"general-tests\">General Tests<\/h3>\n<p>The first section is called <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">General Tests<\/span>&nbsp;and includes the settings for the home directory and the defined location of the WordPress directory. Offsite backups help protect your site in the event of catastrophic server loss. &nbsp;Copying your backup to another location ensures that though your server may go down, you have a working copy of your site in a safe location.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"disk-usage-restrictions\">Disk Usage Restrictions<\/h4>\n<p>There are a lot of <a href=\"\/wordpress-hosting\/\">WordPress hosting providers<\/a> that offer unlimited disk space. Even though it is &ldquo;unlimited&rdquo;, it doesn&rsquo;t mean you can store gigabytes upon gigabytes of backups.
