A charset, or character encoding, is the set of characters (i.e letters, numbers, punctuation marks, etc.) a web page will use to show its content. Selecting a charset helps browsers understand the rules for correctly interpreting your website and ensures that the content is rendered as expected. <\/span><\/p>\n
How to Declare a Charset<\/span><\/h2>\n
A charset can be declared by setting an HTML <meta> tag with the “charset” value like. Here is an example of declaring the charset: <meta charset=”utf-8”>. This <meta> tag should be placed immediately following the opening <head> tag. <\/span><\/p>\n
Why use UTF-8?<\/span><\/h2>\n
