This allows you to work in a safe environment and <a href=\"\/support\/boldgrid-cloud-wordpress-product-guide\/how-to-demo-a-website-without-editing-your-site\/\">make changes without affecting your live website<\/a> until you&rsquo;re ready.<\/p>\n<p>WordPress also has the ability to import content from other blogging platforms. If you&rsquo;re testing the idea of <a href=\"\/support\/wordpress-tutorials\/how-to-migrate-from-blogger\/\">transferring from Blogger to WordPress<\/a>, you can use a staging for that too!<\/p>\n<p>Follow the steps in this article to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boldgrid.com\/free-wordpress-demo\/\">set up your development website<\/a> using our Cloud WordPress platform.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"create-a-new-cloud-wordpress-snap\">Create a new Cloud WordPress Snap<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boldgrid.com\/central\"><strong>BoldGrid Central<\/strong><\/a> and navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Cloud WordPress.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Navigate to <strong>My Snaps -&gt; Create A Snap.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select any theme, for example, <strong>Twenty Nineteen,&nbsp;<\/strong>then click&nbsp;<strong>Continue.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>On the&nbsp;<strong>Select Plugins<\/strong> screen, search for&nbsp;<strong>Total Upkeep&nbsp;<\/strong>and click&nbsp;<strong>select.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Optionally, if you have a premium license, navigate to <strong>Custom URL&nbsp;<\/strong>and enter the URL https:\/\/repo.boldgrid.com\/boldgrid-backup-premium.zip and name it Total Upkeep Premium.<\/li>\n<li>Save the Snap as any name you like, for example,&nbsp;<strong>BoldGrid Staging.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Once the Snap has saved, click&nbsp;<strong>Install.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You&rsquo;ll now be able to use this Snap any time you need to create a new WordPress staging site.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"option-1-clone-your-live-website-to-staging\">Option 1: Clone your Live Website to Staging<\/h2>\n<p>If you want to make a complete replica, or &ldquo;clone&rdquo; of your live website to make tweaks or updates, follow these steps to make a complete backup and copy of your WordPress website.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On your live website, <strong>install the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boldgrid.com\/wordpress-backup-plugin\/\">Total Upkeep plugin<\/a><\/strong> if you do not already have it installed.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Total Upkeep -&gt; Backup Archives.<\/strong> Create a new backup, or choose one that you already have, and click&nbsp;<strong>View Details.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Get Download Link<\/strong> and then copy the URL to your clipboard.<\/li>\n<li>On your <strong>Cloud WordPress staging website<\/strong>, navigate to <strong>Total Upkeep -&gt; Backup Archives -&gt; Upload Backup.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Paste the URL from step 3 into the&nbsp;<strong>Download URL Address<\/strong> field, and click upload.<\/li>\n<li>Once it has uploaded, click on&nbsp;<strong>View Details -&gt; Restore.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"option-2-import-your-content-only\">Option 2: Import Your Content Only<\/h2>\n<p>If you are making a completely new website design, follow these steps to import your posts, pages, and media into your WordPress staging site.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On your live website, navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Tools -&gt; Export.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Leave the option for&nbsp;<strong>All Content<\/strong> selected, and click&nbsp;<strong>Download Export File.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>On your&nbsp;<strong>Cloud WordPress staging website,&nbsp;<\/strong>navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Tools -&gt; Import<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Underneath the&nbsp;<strong>WordPress<\/strong> option, click&nbsp;<strong>Install Now -&gt; Run Importer.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Leave the default options to import the post and page authors, and select the option for <strong>Download and Import File Attachments,&nbsp;<\/strong>and then click&nbsp;<strong>Submit.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Congratulations! You&rsquo;re now ready to start working on your new WordPress staging website. Make customizations, try out some new themes or plugins, and create a great new website.
