Is it possible to add a moving gif file as an image?

andrea iaboni 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 5

I want to place a moving gif on my site, but when I try to upload it, it says there is an error. Is there any way I can do this?

Answer

Since your theme will almost always resize an image to fit it's featured image size, usually a GIF will not work as a featured image. The only way around this would be to make sure that your GIF is exactly the same dimensions as your theme's featured image size.

If your Hosting Support team was able to solve the HTTP error, it's likely that they already added the .htaccess code, and I wouldn't recommend editing it manually unless you're still getting that error. That said, most hosting providers will provide a File Manager that you can access your .htaccess file from, or you can use FTP.

I recommend putting that line at the very top.

Installing BoldGrid page builder messes up how my site displays on mobile.

Shubha Chakravarthy 5 years ago updated 5 years ago 2 1 duplicate

Hi, I just installed boldgrid premium on 2 sites and in both cases the drop down menu doesn't display at all when the plugin is activated. Please help! When I deactivate the plugin it works but doesn't display the page as it does with the plugin activated. For reference, the deactivated plugin site is at studentloanodyssey.com, activated site  is at skchakravarthy.com. many thanks!

How to remove triangle in wedge theme?

I am using the wedge theme and notice that there is a small arrow or triangle shape at the top of each block in the home page. Is it possible to remove this feature somehow?

Thanks!

I was using BoldGrid and liked the interface, but something went wrong with uploads.

Nga 5 years ago updated 5 years ago 3

Good Morning.

I was using BG and also use Beaver Builder.  Backing up localhost and restoring to online seemed to work fine, except for some pesky links (192.168.1.6/...) that would not change into the correct www addresses.  Eventually, probably because I mistakenly did bi-directional backups and restores, the site got really scorched and I left BG.

The alternative program asked for words that needed replacing and I would specify the localhost addresses and replace them with the www addresses.  This is something that BG does without user input and that is nice, save that it did not always get it right.

The question are, has anyone else run into this problem, were they also using Beaver Builder and Beaver Builder Themer, and was a solution found?

Thanks

how to add a flash file to my page

dezinno 5 years ago updated 5 years ago 2

How do I add a flash file to my page?

Answer

Hello!

Great question. WordPress will not let you upload .SWF Flash files by default, due to the security risks of Flash.

It's also worth mentioning that the major browsers are now blocking Flash content (and Adobe is officially killing the product in 2020), so your website visitors will have to take extra steps to view Flash content from your website.

That said, if you really do need Flash content, there are plugins available in the WordPress repository that will allow you to do this. Here are a few that I found from searching the repo. I haven't used any of these, so I can't officially recommend any of them, but you're welcome to try them out. The following links will launch a new Cloud WordPress installation with each of the plugins installed.

Answer

Hello,

Great question! We're determined that everyone who uses BoldGrid maintains full control over their website. While you'd lose access to premium features like automatic offsite backup storage and the premium blocks, everything you have created using your premium subscription will remain fully functional.

set the dimensions of an embedded video

Richard Fomo 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 1

how do I set the default dimensions of my embedded videos?  They are too small to begin on the site page and there is no obvious way to set the dimensions, on either the block component or the video itself, in the visual interface (if I felt confident in writing the specs in the textual interface, I wouldn't need BoldGrid).  At what stage would one set these dimensions - before or after embedding?

Answer

Hi Richard-

This is a great question. There are a couple of ways to modify the size of your embed without the text editor. You can use one of our pre-formatted Video Blocks which will give you several options for layouts with your video.

You can also use the drag-and-drop borders of the Video's container to modify the size. That being said, you can get the most control over your size with the Text Editor. I put together this video to demonstrate the different ways.

how do i connect my domain with the site

stylishdecor 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 1

Please help i need to connect my domain with the site

Answer

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out, I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulty connecting your domain to your website.

Generally speaking, in order to host your website on a Domain Name, for example, "yourdomain.com," you'll need to accomplish the following steps:

  1. Register the domain, either through a domain registrar or with your web host.
  2. Point the domain to your hosting IP address via your host's DNS management interface
  3. Finally, configure your WordPress and BoldGrid site to use the domain as it's Site URL.

In order to configure your WordPress and BoldGrid site to use the domain as it's Site URL, visit the Settings -> General Menu, and update the fields WordPress Address and Site Address to your domain.

I hope this helps,

no credits posted after payment

kimwtully 5 years ago updated by support (Support) 5 years ago 1

I have a boldgrid site through inmotion hosting. I have paid for coins (and my credit card was charged) and they have not been credited to my account. Inmotion says I need to contact boldgrid. I find no support phone or chat options available. This is very annoying as my site is live and I can not purchase the copyright for the photos.
