Our team is interested in using https://www.boldgrid.com/wordpress-framework-and-plugins-for-agencies/. I try to install it but it gives us to many option. which one do we install? Also, can you explain why your page has a F on Leverage browser caching on https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.boldgrid.com/eOxhqHXX.

Please contact us at 305-927-9969.  Mandi

Answer

Hello Mandi-

For Agencies, there are two typical ways to get started creating a new website for your client.
You can start with BoldGrid Inspirations, which will let you select from a variety of industries and themes for those industries.

Alternatively, you can start with our WordPress SuperTheme BoldGrid Crio which will give your team an advanced WordPress design suite with controls for every aspect of your client's new website design.

For your question regarding Leveraging Browser Cache, we use several scripts on our marketing website that require frequent updates, so we have shorter cache control headers set for some of those. Leveraging browser cache is a great way to speed up your website, but sometimes you may have assets on your website that you don't want to have cached for long periods of time. You can control your cache control headers with a plugin such as W3 Super Cache to configure your cache control headers for your site's needs.

I hope this helps!

Why am I not getting emails from my contact form?

Penny Astrology 5 years ago updated 5 years ago 3

WordPress settings has my correct email address and I have verified this. My contact forms were all automatically set to send the notification to amin_email... everything I find on Google says that this should be sending my contact form submissions to my email... what is going on?

Answer

Hello,

Thanks for the excellent question, this is actually a really common issue for WordPress users on a shared hosting platform.

When WordPress sends mail, whether that's using your contact form or, for example, resetting your Admin password, by default it uses the server's PHP Mail system. This is important because lots of spammers also use PHP Mail, which makes a lot of email systems see these unauthenticated emails as Spam. Check your spam folder, but it's also possible that your email provider didn't even let the emails get that far.

One experiment I always recommend before taking your next step is to go through the "Forgot your Password" process to see if you can receive that email. If you do get that email, something is wrong with your actual forms. If you don't, you can reasonably conclude that your website Email is not working.

The most common way to fix this is to use an SMTP plugin, such as WPForms WP Mail SMTP, which will actually let you set up your website to log into your email account and send mail as you. WPForms also has a really good email troubleshooting tutorial on troubleshooting this issue.

Your hosting provider will also be able to check your email delivery logs to determine the precise cause of any issues, so you can also contact them to be sure.

I hope this helps!

New to this how do I add an email address--am I paying for this?

tunesmithtn 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 1

The ownership of my site was transfered to me. How do I get help? No support other than some forum????

Answer

Hello,

Thank you for the questions, I'm sorry you're having trouble with your new site.

First question- how do I add an email address? If I understand you correctly, you mean you're trying to add a new user account to your website to log in with. You can do this via the Users -> Add New menu. Here are detailed instructions from the WordPress User Manual.

Second question- am I paying for this? It depends. Several of our supporting web hosts provide BoldGrid Premium included in your web hosting package. BoldGrid also produces a fully-featured free version of all our products. Since your website ownership was transferred to you, your website's connect key may be associated with the previous owner's email address. If they would like to transfer ownership of your BoldGrid connect key to you, you can do so using these instructions.

Third Question- How do I get help? Free users receive support via this forum. If you have a premium account, you can utilize our Premium Support ticketing system. If you use one of our supporting web hosts, your hosting provider can also provide support for BoldGrid's products.

I hope this helps!

where can i upload documents for visitors to download?

mdmcgrain 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 1

Where can I upload documents for visitors to download? I see where media (images, audio, video) goes but what about documents? Can they be organized into folders?

Thank You,

Answer

Hello!

Thanks for the excellent question.

Many document formats can be uploaded in exactly the same way as other media types, via the Media -> Add New menu.

According to the WordPress Codex, the following document formats are allowed:

  • .pdf (Portable Document Format; Adobe Acrobat)
  • .doc, .docx (Microsoft Word Document)
  • .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx (Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation)
  • .odt (OpenDocument Text Document)
  • .xls, .xlsx (Microsoft Excel Document)
  • .psd (Adobe Photoshop Document)

By default, WordPress organizes your uploads by Year and Month, so, for example, anything you upload this month will be in the directory:

/wp-content/uploads/2019/10

Some third-party plugins are designed to make this process easier. For example, Easy Digital Downloads is designed to let you sell your downloads. Another one I found to help with folder organization is called FileBird -WordPress Media Library Folders.

I hope this helps!

Updated to wordpress 5.2.3 deactivated admin page.

cicamuk 5 years ago updated 5 years ago 2

I updated to wordpress 5.2.3 and my admin page was immediately unavailable. Deactivated plugin and could access again. Reinstalled, clicked activate and I immediately got thrown off my admin page. Once I head back to workdpress.com I can deactivate plug in and I'm fine.

This never affected my actual website, just the ability to access all admin functions.

I really like using the boldgrid functionality so any ideas?

Thanks,

Craig

Edit section disappears

David A Mulholland 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 1

Hi Guys, this is happening now all too often.  The whole editing and info section (should be on the right) totally disappears from the site leaving me unable to update and thats worry if I have just spent x amount of time editing stuff?

Image 1279

Answer

Hi David-

Thanks for the interesting question, I'm sorry for the frustration of losing your save button, that would make me nervous about losing my work too.

Two thoughts come to my head- both would cause the Publish box to actually move below the editing window.
The first possibility is your screen options. There's an option to change the editing window from two columns to one:

If that's not the case, then another possibility is that a plugin you're using, one that displays something in the editor window, is not closing one of its <div> elements, causing the page to interpret it as below the editor instead of on the side. You could test this hypothesis by disabling your plugins, one-by-one, that have anything displayed in your editor window.

Both of these theories would still show your update/publish button below the editor. If it's disappeared completely, then something else might be interacting with your editor window.

I hope this helps!

After updating boldgrid backup, I can no longer access dashboard

jefukuri 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 1

I updated the boldgrid backup plugin and lost access to the dashboard.

Recovery mode is not working either.

This is the error that I received:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare Boldgrid\Library\Util\wp_rand()

(previously declared in

/home/nichos5/public_html/gengolingo.com/wp-content/plugins/boldgrid-backup/vendor/boldgrid/library/src/Util/Load.php:162)

in /home/nichos5/public_html/gengolingo.com/wp-content/plugins/boldgrid-backup/vendor/boldgrid/library/src/Util/Load.php on line 162

I have tried deactivating the plugin through cPanel, however, this results in crashing my website.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Background Pattern doesn't display on all pages

turneralex710 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 1

The background image doesn't appear fully behind all of my pages, such as the Posts page.

The home page shows how I want it to look (Make the image fullscreen to see the pattern properly):

Image 1274

And this is the Posts page, where it doesn't display the background except on the post excerpt:

Image 1275

Answer

Hello,

Thank you for the excellent question. The Westview theme was designed only to use the background on Pages, not posts and archives.

In order to override this and show your background everywhere, navigate to Customize -> Advanced -> Custom JS & CSS and copy-and-paste this CSS rule into your Custom Theme CSS box:

.palette-primary.archive .site-content, .palette-primary.archive .site-header, .palette-primary.single .site-content, .palette-primary.single .site-header, .palette-primary.blog .site-content, .palette-primary.blog .site-header {
background: unset;
}

I hope this helps

How to adjust space at top of page body?

aev_productions 5 years ago updated by Jesse Owens (Community Manager) 5 years ago 3

For some reason there is a very large space above the page body. When working in the BoldGrid editor I set the spacing to 0px but in the live site it displays differently. Where is this huge space coming from?

Image 1271

Image 1270

Answer

Hello,

Thanks for the great question. That spacing is actually baked into the theme itself.

There are two separate styles that control the spacing at the top of your entry content. In order to reduce these, navigate to your Customize > Advanced > Custom JS & CSS menu, and paste the following snippet into your Custom Theme CSS:

.entry-content { padding-top: 0px !important; }

That will reduce the space from 6.5em to 1.5em. If you want to eliminate all of the space, use this CSS:

.entry-content {
    padding-top: 0px !important;
    margin-top: 0px !important;
}

I hope this helps!
