Comparing BoldGrid vs Elementor Website Builders

Blog

Website builders are a brilliant way to create websites without having to hire a developer. There are many different types of editors to consider. Today, we’re going to look at BoldGrid vs. Elementor and see which one comes out on top.

BoldGrid Page Builder Plugin

Pros

BoldGrid Page Builder Plugin is built on top of WordPress so you can take full advantage of the power of WordPress through customization and flexible editing. After installing the plugin, you may notice that there are hundreds of professionally designed themes that appeal to your market, audience, and niche. Each of these themes are fully customizable to match your color palette and branding. Widgets are easily adjustable and the code generated by BoldGrid is clean and easy to alter as needed. You can drag and drop your content and edit in real time. The BoldGrid Page Builder plugin is a what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) editor. There are also blocks of pre-designed content and elements that you can add to your pages. These make it super fast to build a page. Included as part of the BoldGrid plugin suite is the staging plugin. This allows you to keep your website live while you work on a staged version that isn’t public for viewers to see. You can try different themes, plugins and even run updates, all without affecting your live website. Once you make a change and want to publish it, it’s a simple click of a button to publish.

Cons

As BoldGrid plugins run on top of WordPress, you’ll need to use a hosting provider to get your website online. While you can host your website with anyone, it’s better to host your BoldGrid site on an official BoldGrid hosting provider as they are able to provide full customer support.

Elementor

Pros

Elementor’s core product is 100% free and has a solid user interface. It is also an open source editor like BoldGrid. Elementor does have a Facebook Group allowing you to touch base with others who use the service. The cons, however, far outweigh the pros.

Cons

One of the biggest cons in comparing BoldGrid vs. Elementor is that Elementor uses forced styling by default. This means that each new “section” that you add will default to a single column unless you select a different structure every time. The interface doesn’t allow you to edit elements directly. You have to click on the text, move over to the text editor, and click again inside the text editor box to make adjustments. This doesn’t become a problem until you consider the amount of time it takes to make a simple edit. On top of that, you have to expand the text box to actually see the changes reflected on the page. This means that editing not only takes time, but also is a challenge for smaller screens as it requires a large amount of screen space. The color scheme and font selection options are also a bit limited. If you want to make changes, you will need to disable the global colors and fonts to be able to make this change, but unfortunately it’s still limited. Elementor also lacks some marketing-oriented features like star ratings and tables. When using their pre-built templates over already made content, you’ll find that the site looks nothing like the preview you see without modifying your content placement. In addition, their marketing-based themes are limited and restrict you from placing content where you’d like. When it comes to BoldGrid vs. Elementor, BoldGrid’s drag and drop plugin brings easy navigation and an intuitive interface beat out the overly complicated options found in Elementor. They are both open source, so developers can dive into the deep end and make alterations. BoldGrid prides itself on its clean code to make building a professional website a breeze.
