Week in Review — So Many Great Experiences in Just One Week

Merge

The Merge event offered visitors five days of a new type of event. Taking place at the Marriott World Center right outside of Disney World in Orlando, Florida, it had multiple shows, including the Domain Conference, CMS Summit, and the Blockchain Roadshow.

The BoldGrid team arrived on Friday and did a great dinner with our friends from RocketTheme at a restaurant called Boma — Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. On Saturday the crew set up our brand new inflatable booth at the MERGE expo hall. It looked amazing and proved much easier for set up and tear down than our old booths. During the day, MikeDemo lead two roundtables: one on how to be a Road Warrior and one on Growth Driven Design by Hubspot. He also gave his famous “duck talk” later that day. Finally, a very busy Saturday ended with MikeDemo leading the “Bring Your Own Domain” session. On Sunday the expo opened and, BoldGrid connected with dozens of interested people. The team also had the pleasure of having lunch with our friends from Rochen at the Boathouse at Disney Springs. With no prior engagements that evening, the team hung out with CloudAccess.net at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Monday proved to be another great day of networking, and the team gave a terrific session on BoldGrid. They spent the day talking and learning about everyone in attendance, what interested them about BoldGrid, and all the ways they planned to use it. While Monday had been busy, Tuesday was the biggest day for our team, as it was also the day of the WHIR event. Fortunately, things slowed back down to a more manageable pace on Wednesday, when the team attended the morning sessions and broke down the new booth. They hung out with our friends from WAPU.US and had dinner at Trader Sams at the Polynesian Resort. That evening BoldGrid hosted a Disney Fireworks Cruise for our partners.

WHIR

The WHIR event ran alongside the larger MERGE Show, but was a separate event. BoldGrid proudly sponsored this event, as well. Hundreds of people in the domain, hosting, and tech space networked in the expo hall of the larger Merge show on Tuesday evening. Boldie proved very popular and BoldGrid had the opportunity to share a little bit about our platform to the audience. Special thanks to Allison of the WHIR for all of her help promoting BoldGrid at this event. After WHIR, the BoldGrid team went to Universal City Walk to have dinner and keep the networking alive.

WC NYC

On a very different note from MERGE and WHIR, MikeDemo arrived to WordCamp New York on Friday morning and checked into his hotel in Times Square.  Friday night saw a VIP Party at General Assembly. He felt grateful for the opportunity to connect (and reconnect) with everyone during the party. The next morning, everyone arrived very early at Convene, located right off of Times Square. The venue space provided soda, coffee, snacks and, sparkling water on tap. Quite the posh arrangement for a WordCamp, but welcomed by the attendees. The day contained hours of connecting to people and showing off the newest features of BoldGrid. On the other hand, MikeDemo did not have any plans for the evening. So, he got to hang out with Adam from SiteLock while visiting the National Geographic Ocean Odyssey experience, followed by dinner at Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen and Bar. The event drew to a close on Sunday, but not before another great day. Boldie decided to do some photos with people and enjoying talking about the city, WordPress, and the great content that learned during the event that day. MikeDemo packed up and shipped off the our stuff to WordCamp Phoenix, before finding time to spend the evening exploring the city.
