How To Install and Change Themes in BoldGrid

BoldGrid Tutorials

BoldGrid was designed to make building and managing your WordPress website as simple and easy as possible – even for people with no design or development experience. We’ve also included 200+ different theme and category combinations to help users perfect their vision for their WordPress website.

While users almost always select a theme when first building their website, there are many reasons you may want to install or change themes later. You may be going through a rebrand. Maybe you’re not reaching your target audience. Or maybe you simply want a new look. Whatever your motives might be, BoldGrid is designed to make installing and changing to new themes simple and easy. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to install new themes and change out your existing theme in BoldGrid.

Installing and Changing Themes in BoldGrid

First, log in to the BoldGrid dashboard (the admin dashboard is where you can access everything on your site). Hover over the “Customize” option in the left-hand sidebar menu and then click on the “Change Themes” option. From here, you will be taken to a themes page where there is a list of previously installed themes to choose from. Click on the “Add New” button at the top of the page – this will take you to the Add Themes page. There are many different WordPress website templates to choose from, but those specific to BoldGrid will appear at the top of the list and have the BoldGrid Certified logo. To install a theme, simply hover over the one you like and click on the install button. If you aren’t sure which theme you want to use, simply work on your site in the staging area and give it a test drive. Once it’s installed, you’ll have the option to activate it and make it your current theme. If you don’t want to activate it right away, you can do it later using the change themes option. It’s important to note that when you choose a new website template in BoldGrid, you won’t have to rebuild the entire site. Installing a new theme will change your site’s look, but all the previous content (photos, videos, blogs, etc.) will remain. A few points to remember:
  • You can change your theme at any time through your admin dashboard.
  • You can preview a new theme in the staging area before going live.
  • You can download new themes and save them for later if you’re not quite ready to make a change.
Hopefully, you are now clear on how to install and change themes in Boldgrid. Have a question? Feel free to leave a comment, or take a look at the various articles, tutorials, and guides in BoldGrid Support.
