    Hi, I installed W3 Total Cache yesterday, today I ran a Malware Scan today using WPMU DEV’s Defender Pro and it came up with suspicious code that it recommended I get checked with you:

    We’ve detected some suspicious code in this plugin file from the Official WP repository at https://wp.org/plugins/w3-total-cache
    // deprecated as of PHP 5.3.0
    //set_magic_quotes_runtime(0);
    $this->encoding = $enc;
    Location: /home/design67/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/Nusoap/nusoap.php

    and:
    // deprecated as of PHP 5.3.0
    //set_magic_quotes_runtime(0);
    $this->encoding = $enc;
    Location: /home/design67/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/Nusoap/class.soap_transport_http.php

    Please advise.
    Joanne.

    Hello Joanne,

    Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to assist you with this.
    These are simple deprecation notifications and there is no malware. This means that some code was deprecated and not in use
    W3 Total Cache supports various PHP and WP versions as some websites are not updated to the latest versions.

    This will be checked and removed for future updates.

    In any case, you do not have anything to worry about when it comes to the security of the website and any potential malware in the W3 Total Cache.

    Thanks!
